The BAC is a company limited by guarantee and accountable to our members through our Athlete Representatives and an Annual General Meeting.
The BAC Board, which sets the strategic direction of the BAC is initially selected by a panel using on a competency based process and the proposed appointments are voted on by the members at the AGM. The Board consists of:
At least 25% of the Board has to be from the athlete community. The BAC is committed to equal opportunity and so the BAC welcomes applications from all sections of the community (sporting or otherwise.) Representatives from interested parties like UK Sport, the BOA or the BPA are invited to attend BAC Board meetings but they are not entitled to a vote.
The day to day operation of the BAC is carried out by the full time professional staff led by the Chief Executive, with the Board providing direction and monitoring performance of the business against the agreed objectives.
‘The Board has the option within its Articles of Association to co-opt individuals to the Board and to appoint Committees. At present there are three committees to give the Board a balanced and informed perspective when making decisions about the BAC. We have an Athlete Advisory Group chaired by Susie Rodgers MBE, an Audit Committee Chaired by Dougie Dryburgh, and a Nominations Committee chaired by Vicki Aggar’.
Where the BAC needs to be represented in an official capacity then normally it will be either the Chair and / or the Chief Executive that will fulfill those obligations.
