BAC Achieves Intermediate Safeguarding Standard
We are pleased to announce that the British Athletes Commission has achieved the Intermediate Level of Standards for Safeguarding and Protecting Children in Sport. The standards, set by the NSPCC, provide a framework for all those involved in sport to help them create a safe sporting environment for children and young people and protect them from harm.
We have worked very closely with the Child Protection in Sport Unit, UK Sport and other national governing bodies to ensure that our framework standards are robust, thus ensuring we provide assistance to those in sport to make informed decisions and promote good practice.
The British Athletes Commission received excellent feedback from the CPSU assessors who commented “this is phenomenal progress and we wish the BAC well in sustaining such positive change”.
Sally Lockyer, Interim CEO at the British Athletes Commission said “we are proud to be awarded Intermediate Standard for Safeguarding and to be recognised for a totally revised submission, our leadership changes and delivering a culture of safeguarding at the BAC. We are further committed to achieving Advanced Standard in the future”.
