The BAC was dissapointed to see the level of cuts that were confirmed today by UK Sport across the 8 Olympic and 4 Paralympic sports, but welcomes the steps taken to make most of the funding available immediately. The BAC hopes that this will enable athletes in those sports to continue to train at an optimal level in the short term whilst other funding options are pursued.
Whilst these funding cuts may mean a subsequent reduction in support servics to many of the athletes in these sports, they can rely on the same level of service from the BAC. All athletes competing in Olympic and Paralympic sports can access the BACs services of advice and representation, and all are eligible to sign up as full members and access the BAC Benefits scheme.
The BAC will continue to offer advice to UK Sport and the other partners involved in trying to raise finance from the private sector, to enable these sports to field full competitive teams in 2012.
