The BAC welcomes the funding announcement made today by UK Sport which brings clarity and security to athletes in many sports, but is concerned about the uncertainty that remains for those that have not been given any assurances about their funding.
There are athletes in many of these sports who have put lives, jobs and careers on hold over the past two years, because of the promise of funding which has not materialised. The BAC will be seeking assurances that if further funding cannot be found for these sports, that the welfare of these athletes (and support staff) will be properly taken into consideration, and that they will not be cut adrift.
