An evening on the Thames last night proved to be a huge success for the BAC and its associates. It was complemented by a dazzling turnout of over 250 athletes and businesses- a reflection of the incredible interest achieved by the occasion.
The BAC in association with ISG, Sport2Business and DKH Legacy Trust presented the evening hosted by Dame Kelly Holmes. The event was arranged to engage businesses and the nation’s elite athletes in potential future ventures.
Pete Gardner, CEO of the BAC, was extremely pleased with the outcome,
“It was a successful evening and a great opportunity for a large number of athletes to hone their networking skills. Also, it gave the businesses a chance to see the talent available and offer the athlete’s advice on work related issues.”
It was also an opportunity for the BAC to demonstrate the breadth of its services to the athetes. Many of the athletes attending were impressed by the work undertaken by the BAC, including England Women’s cricket star Ebony Rainford-Brent she said:
“The BAC really helps, the facilities they offer are very helpful- it’s always good to learn about the different services they provide.”
Dame Kelly Holmes was quick to praise and recognise the efforts of the BAC,
“Making the transition from being a fulltime athlete to a new career is not always easy, and that's why it's great that we have partners like The British Athletes Commission. These organisations recognise the support that elite sports performers need as they transition to other careers and the incredible value and contribution a world class performer can make to a business.”
Also making an appearance was Chair of the BAC, Karen Pickering- the gold medal winning star was delighted at the number of people present.
“This is a fantastic event, we are very grateful to ISG for sponsoring the event- there are a huge number of athletes from a great number of sports including rugby, cricket, swimming and athletics.”
Pete Gardner highlighted the BAC’s role at the event and reiterated its importance,
“Tonight is great for the BAC to demonstrate the work we do for the athletes, both retired and present and promote the services and benefits we provide.”
A terrific end to a wonderful evening, The British Athletes Commission would like to thank all those who took part and wishes tremendous success to the blossoming relationships between athletes and businesses.
