Can I join the BAC?
The BAC is an independent members' association for individuals who have represented their country (or GB) in a variety of sports. The majority of the recognised sports are the Olympic or Paralympic disciplines but our membership is NOT restricted to these sports. If you are unsure please contact us.
How much is the membership fee?
If you wish to join the BAC please contact us or complete the online application form.
Any individual who is a BAC Athlete Representative has automatic free membership for the time that he/she holds that post.
What are the benefits of membership of the BAC?
The BAC is here to offer advice, support and guidance to our members about anything that might be affecting them. The advice is impartial and confidential.
If necessary the BAC will help in trying to resolve any dispute either through arranging a meeting with key personnel in a NGB and / or accompanying a member should a dispute be taken to the sport arbitration service Sports Resolution UK
The BAC promotes and supports a network of active Athlete Representatives in each of our recognised sports. The BAC work with the NGBs to appoint Athlete Representatives and he/she then become the focal points of contact with the BAC and within the NGB. The BAC and UK Sport see Athlete Representation as a key aspect of good governance.
The BAC consults with our members through surveys, the Athlete Representatives and the Athlete Advisory Group so that we can engage with all the key stakeholders in sport and inform and influence their decision making processes. Our key stakeholders include UK Sport, the BOA, the BPA, UKAD and Commonwealth Games England
The BAC works with a number of targeted suppliers of products and services that we offer to our members. These can be found in our Benefit Providers section.
Athletes Direct. This is an online service available to our members for an extra £30 pa. Athletes Direct is a service that links third parties (predominantly schools) our members who are signed up to this service. Typically the third parties are looking for someone to add value to a function such as an assembly, sports day or in the corporate world a management meeting or conference. The BAC sees this as a way of helping our members to earn additional income without compromising training and competition programmes and prepare for a life after sport.
What happens when I have an issue and need the BAC’s help?
You should contact the BAC either by phone on 01628 891535 or email and outline the nature of the issue. Your case will be dealt with in confidence. You will then be contacted by either the CEO or one of the BAC's Advisors to discuss the case in more detail to see what the possible outcomes could be. Following this discussion an appropriate course of action will be agreed. This could be that the BAC;
The BAC recognises that many of our members can feel isolated and lonely within the challenging environment of high performance sport. We are here to help and provide a listening ear or helping hand. Please contact us no matter what the problem.
I don’t know who my BAC Athlete Representative is?
If you are in any doubt then please contact us and we will help. It might be that there isn’t an Athlete Representative in your sport at the current time and the BAC will consult and work with the key personnel in your NGB to have someone elected.

Can you help with a dispute with my agent/ sponsor?
Yes we can, the BAC is here to help our members in all circumstances and we will investigate any issue that you have to try to find a resolution. If you are unsure about the suitability of an agreement that you have been asked to sign then the BAC or one of our Advisors will be happy to help.
