The British Athletes Commission (BAC) – the representative body for World Class athletes in Olympic and Paralympic sports – is one of a number of bodies being consulted by UK Sport with regard to a proposed policy that will define when an athlete is ineligible to receive Lottery Funding – for an Athlete’s Personal Allowance (APA).
Athletes who have been found guilty of Anti-Doping Violations are already ineligible but the proposed policy extends the ineligibility to athletes found guilty of bringing their sport into disrepute through inappropriate use of social media (Facebook, Twitter etc.) and for unspent criminal convictions.
The BAC is consulting with our legal advisers Lewis Silkin but would welcome the thoughts of any of our members. We are required to send any feedback to UK Sport by Monday 9th September.
The consultation documents are available on request by contacting the BAC on 0203 126 4270 or firstname.lastname@example.org
