FAQs
1. I think our Selection procedure was unfair. What can I do about it?
The first thing you should do is get a copy of any written document which sets out your selection policy. If none exists, ask your Governing Body (preferably in writing so you can keep a copy) if it can tell you what the policy is. Also, check if there is an Appeals Procedure and ask for a copy.
Next, write down exactly what happened to you. Be calm, and put the facts on paper. This helps to clarify what did or did not happen.
Does what actually happened match the written policy? If it doesn't, would the result have been different if the policy had actually been followed?
When everything is straight in your mind, consider who you want to contact to help you sort things out. Your Athlete Representative should be your first reference, but may not always be appropriate. Would you be happy speaking to somebody at the BAC, even if that person is a stranger? Would you prefer somebody who knows your sport thoroughly? Choose someone you can trust, and take your problem to them. You must act quickly in a selection dispute.
It might be possible to have the decision reconsidered if the correct procedure has not been followed. However, selection problems are always tricky to handle because they are so very personal. Take great care in choosing someone to represent you, and try to get all of the facts straight when you are not feeling emotional.
Even if you do not think the problem can be resolved satisfactorily, it will be worth working with your Athlete Representative to ensure that the same thing does not happen to anyone else (or you again!) in another year.
2. My sponsor has given me an agreement to sign. Who can check it for me?
If the document is only a few pages long, and the value of the sponsorship is not excessive, the BAC will have an adviser who can look over the document for you. If the agreement is complex and the deal is worth a large sum of money over a full Olympiad, you should have it reviewed professionally. George Davies will be able to accommodate your needs (see link to the website).
3. My Governing Body has asked me to sign an Athlete Agreement before next week. What should I do?
Take your time! You should not be rushed into signing an agreement you do not understand or do not want to sign. If you are having trouble understanding the agreement, give the BAC a call and we can help you understand what you are being asked to sign, and whether you should ask for any changes to be made.
4. Should I pay tax?

This EAC is awesome for athletes. I love my iphone that I got through the club and sleep well with my mattress from Mammoth Elite Sport. I have also used Ablestoke to handle my finances. It has saved me £'s.
