Karen Pickering, Swimming
Chair of the BAC and Director responsible for Olympic affairs
Karen has been an outstanding member of the British swimming squad since 1986 has a collection of winning medals that include 8 World Championship 14 European Championship medals, 38 National Championship titles, and a Commonwealth Games medal haul of 13 including, 4 Gold.
For her services to swimming Karen was awarded an MBE in the 1994 New Years Honours List.
She is the figure head of the BAC and as chair of Olympic Committee, Karen is responsible for overseeing the production of the Athlete reports from the Summer and Winter Olympic games and following up the findings produced in these with the BOA.
Adam Pengilly, Bob Skeleton
Vice Chair and Director
Placed 8th at the Torino Winter Olympics.
Adam started his sport career as a Junior Decathlete and moved to the Great Britain Bobsleigh team from 1997-2001.
He has been a member fo the Great Britian Bob Skeleton team since 2002.
Adam wrote the 2006 Torino Athletes Report and was voted onto the BAC Executive at the 2006 Annual Athletes Conference.
Giles Long, Swimming
Director responsible for Paralympic affairs
A Gold medallist from the Atlanta and Sydney Paralympic Games, Giles is also a holder of multiple world records.
As chair of the Paralympic Committee Giles is responsible for overseeing the development of athlete representation among the Paralympic Sports as well as the introduction of a Paralympic athlete report.
Leon Taylor, Diving
Director
2004 Athens Olympic Silver medalist. Leon has respresented Great Britain since 1992 in the 10m indiidual and 10m synchornised platform events. In 1998, Leon invented the ' hardest dive in the world' - a backward 2 and a half somersaults with 2 and a half twists piked!.
Leon was elected to the BAC Executive in September 2006 at the Annual Athletes Conference.
Georgina Garland, Modern Pentathlon
Director
Georgina Harland has represented Great Britain in modern pentathlon.
Over the course of her career, Georgina has won over 30 international medals. Her most crowning achievement came in 2004 at the Summer Olympics in Athens, although Georgina was diagnosed with a possible stress fracture in her tibia, she staged a remarkable comeback to score a spectacular bronze medal finish.
Georgie was elected to the BAC Executive in 2008 at the Annual Athletes Conference.
Goldie Sayers, Javelin
Director
Goldie set a new UK record in the javelin (65.05), thus becoming the first British woman to throw over 65 metres since javelins were redesigned in 1999. From 2003-2007, Goldie won five consecutive national titles. She cemented this achievement at the Norwich Union Glasgow Grand Prix on 3 June 2007 where she beat a top-class international field in rainy conditions with a throw of 63.59m. On March 15, 2008, Goldie won the European Cup of Winter Throwing. During the final at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China she set a new UK record with 65.75 m when finishing fourth.
Goldie was elected to the BAC Executive in 2008 at the Annual Athletes Conference.
Graham Gristwood, Orienteer
Graham is a full-time orienteer. He splits his time between the UK and Sweden and his goal is to become the individual World Champion. In 2008, he was a member of the Great Britain relay team which won the World Orienteering Championships in the Czech Republic
Graham was elected to the BAC Executive in 2007 at the Annual Athletes Conference.
Jason Gardener, Athletics
Director
2000 saw Jason win European indoor 60 m taking gold as well as breaking the national 50 m record with a time of 5.61 seconds. He retained his European indoor title in 2002 as well as a 4 x 100 m Commonwealth Games gold medal.
2003 saw another World indoors bronze despite being hampered by a hamstring injury but the following year he bettered this to take the gold.
Jason made the squad for the 2004 Summer Olympics where he competed in the 100 m and won the gold medal in the 4 x 100 m relay with Darren Campbell, Marlon Devonish and Mark Lewis-Francis in a 38.07 s their season's best.
In March 2007, Gardener won his fourth European Indoor 60 m.
Jason was elected to the BAC Executive in 2008 at the Annual Athletes Conference.
